POSITION: Educational Counselor - Greater Hartford

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in related field. Ability to establish and maintain on-going relationships between CONNTAC-EOC, postsecondary and high educational institutions and community based agencies. Demonstrate understanding of the socio-economic and academic needs of the clients served through Educational Opportunity Centers. Good oral and written communication and facilitation skills; good organizational skills. Must have knowledge of college financial aid and admissions processes. Bi-lingual and underrepresented candidates are encouraged to apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Report to the Director. Provide ongoing orientation for adult education programs, higher education and community agency personnel serving low-income, underrepresented adults and high school students; plan and implement aggressive outreach efforts for the identification and recruitment of eligible clients interested in higher education, financial aid and admissions processes and realistic career decision making. Responsibilities include travel; provide counseling to clients on an individual or group basis; prepare monthly, handwritten and computerized summary reports of outreach activities; plan and implement a series of workshops related to higher education financial aid and admissions processes and realistic career decision making; undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
